You have two conversations, not one
With your athlete is the shared one — your athlete reads everything in it. It opens here by default, and it works exactly as it always has.

Tap “Just you and Marcus” for a private note
This one your athlete cannot open at all. Use it for anything about money, an outstanding balance, pick-up times, or a concern you would rather they did not read.

Type and send, the same as always
Marcus gets a notification either way. His reply lands back in whichever conversation you used — a private message stays private.

Why it is actually private
This is not a conversation that is merely hidden from your athlete’s screen. Their login has no permission to open it, so it cannot be reached even by looking. Marcus can also send an announcement to parents only the same way.
